The bug, which affects some Threads users on desktop and mobile devices, causes a single user’s post to be repeated over and over again, as if every user in your feed is saying the same thing.
“Siri, unfollow me from 2025,” wrote one Threads user, according to a screenshot from social media expert Alexa Heinrich. But then everyone else on Heinrich’s feed seemed to repeat the same joke, pleading with Apple’s beleaguered AI to save them from a news cycle of constant horror stories.
Meta apps have made a few mistakes lately, but this threads bug was more silly than harmful. Meanwhile, last week, some users unknowingly posted their conversations with Meta AI to the public feed, revealing personal information about medical problems, contact information, legal issues, and more.
Although it is not yet clear what caused the bug, Meta’s director of communications Andy Stone responded to a post by the program’s researcher Jane Manchun Wong about the issue.
“Oops, that clearly shouldn’t have happened! We’re working on fixing it now,” Stone said.
