A significant milestone for AI development in China was reached today with the official release of the Chinese Internet Foundation Corpus 4.0. The announcement was made this afternoon at the Artificial Intelligence Security Governance sub-forum of the 2026 National Cybersecurity Week, held in Jinan.

Vast Data Resources for AI Advancement

The newly launched corpus boasts an impressive data volume of 120GB and is now available on the “Chinese Internet Corpus Resource Platform.” This initiative, guided by the Cyberspace Administration of China, is a collaborative effort by the Internet Society of China, the National Internet Emergency Center, and prominent tech companies including Baidu, DeepMind (中科闻歌), Kaipu Cloud (开普云), Tures (拓尔思), iFlytek (科大讯飞), and Zhihu (知乎).

Building upon the success of its predecessors (Corpus 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0), the Chinese Internet Foundation Corpus 4.0 has been meticulously compiled and processed. It aims to provide a reliable and high-quality data foundation for the training of large-scale AI models and the broader advancement of artificial intelligence technologies within China.

Accessing the Corpus

Users interested in accessing this valuable resource can do so by visiting the official website of the Internet Society of China. Following a registration and authentication process on the “Chinese Internet Corpus Resource Platform,” individuals and organizations will be able to download the data or make arrangements for its acquisition.

A Collaborative Ecosystem for Data Governance

The Internet Society of China highlighted that the corpus 4.0 represents a crucial achievement in the collective effort to build high-quality Chinese language corpora. It significantly expands the domestic supply of such essential data resources. The organization emphasized its commitment to continued collaboration with the National Internet Emergency Center and various industry stakeholders to further develop and enrich the Chinese Internet Foundation Corpus.

“The Chinese Internet Foundation Corpus 4.0 is an important phased achievement of industry-wide collaboration in building high-quality Chinese corpora, further enriching the domestic high-quality Chinese corpus supply system. In the next step, the association will continue to work with the National Internet Emergency Center and other units to deepen the construction of the Chinese Internet Foundation Corpus in various industries, continuously building a solid data foundation for the high-quality development of the artificial intelligence industry.”

This ongoing development of foundational data resources is seen as critical for bolstering the high-quality growth of China’s artificial intelligence sector, ensuring that AI development is built upon a robust and trustworthy data infrastructure.
