The pre-sale data highlights several popular travel routes. Major departure cities include Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, and Xi’an. Correspondingly, the most sought-after arrival destinations mirror these busy hubs. Specific popular inter-city routes experiencing concentrated passenger flow include Guangzhou to Nanning, Beijing to Zhengzhou, Beijing to Shenyang, Beijing to Taiyuan, Shanghai to Beijing, Beijing to Jinan, Beijing to Shanghai, Beijing to Xi’an, and Beijing to Nanjing.
Railway Authorities Advise and Adapt
With the significant increase in passenger traffic expected during the holiday, railway authorities are implementing measures to manage potential congestion. They are closely monitoring ticket availability and dynamically analyzing passenger flow to develop scientific ticketing strategies. This approach aims to balance the needs of both long-distance and short-distance travelers, ensuring that sufficient tickets are released to stations experiencing high demand, thereby facilitating smooth holiday journeys.

Travelers are encouraged to maximize this feature by selecting up to 60 combinations of “date + train number.” The more combinations chosen, the higher the likelihood of securing a ticket. The railway department commits to increasing capacity on routes with high demand based on waitlist data, prioritizing those who have already submitted waitlist orders. Passengers can further enhance their chances by opting to “accept newly added trains.”
The pre-payment for waitlist orders is calculated based on the highest ticket price within the selected combinations. Once a ticket is secured, the actual fare will be settled.

- September 25th to 27th: Shanghai-Nanjing, Nanjing-Shanghai, Chengdu-Chongqing, Dali-Kunming, Guangzhou-Shantou, Guangzhou-Zhanjiang, Guangzhou-Nanning, Shenzhen-Chaozhou, Shanghai-Beijing, and Guangzhou-Changsha have plenty of tickets.
