CAD renders of Google Pixel Fold 2 have appeared, showing a redesigned camera module

In a recent report, an image of the upcoming Google Pixel Fold 2 prototype has surfaced. The image reveals that the device will not feature the horizontal camera visor that Google has offered on its Pixel phones over the past few years. Now, SmartPrix has teamed up with renowned leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka OnLeaks) to share CAD renders of the Pixel Fold 2. The new images provide a good look at the updated design of Google’s second-generation Pixel Fold.

CAD renders show a charcoal variant of the Pixel Fold 2. According to the report, it will be equipped with a 7.9-inch display. Taking into account the rounded corners, the screen size is likely to be closer to 8.1 inches. The outer size of the screen is 6.4 inches, and with the corners taken into account, its size increases to 6.6 inches.

The report states that the Pixel Fold 2 measures 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.27 mm when unfolded and 1552 x 77.1 x 10.54 mm when folded.

For comparison, the Pixel Fold measures 139.7 x 158.7 x 5.8 mm when unfolded. When folded, the device measures 139.7 x 79.5 x 12.1 mm. So, we can say that Fold 2 has not only increased in size, but also become thinner than the previous generation.

The left side of Pixel Fold 2 is empty, and the right panel contains the volume control and power button. On the top edge of the device there is an antenna strip and a speaker, and on the bottom there is a USB-C port, an earpiece speaker, a microphone and a SIM card slot. A rectangular camera module, which appears to contain a triple camera system, an LED flash, and a microphone, has replaced the horizontal camera panel located at the back.

The report does not contain information about other features of the Pixel Fold 2. Previous reports claimed that it could be equipped with a Tensor G4 processor or an overclocked version of the Tensor G3. It is expected to be equipped with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage, and Pixie AI artificial intelligence assistant. Pixel Fold was announced at the Google I/O 2023 conference in May last year. However, it is unclear whether the device will be presented at I/O 2024 this year.
