BYD’s Denza brand has announced a significant step for its upcoming Z9S model, with the first display cars now reaching 101 dealerships across 61 cities in China. This arrival marks a key milestone following the vehicle’s presale launch on August 3rd, which kicked off with a starting price of 319,800 yuan.
Key Features and Performance Highlights
The Denza Z9S is poised to make a strong impression with a suite of advanced technologies and impressive performance metrics. Standard features include the ‘Tian Shen Zhi Yan’ 5.0 intelligent driving system and the second-generation Blade Battery, known for its safety and energy density.
One of the most remarkable claims surrounding the Z9S is its electric range. Previously reported, it has reportedly set a new record for mass-produced electric vehicles, achieving an impressive CLTC range of 1100km. This translates to a claimed ‘charge only once every half a month’ usage scenario, promising unparalleled convenience for users.
Complementing its long range, the Z9S incorporates the second-generation Blade Battery alongside rapid charging technology. Denza claims this charging system is the fastest globally, capable of adding significant range in just minutes. Specifically, it can charge to a substantial level in 5 minutes and be fully charged in 9 minutes. Furthermore, the battery performance is optimized for extreme conditions, with charging times only increasing by 3 minutes at -30 degrees Celsius.
Platform and Driving Experience
Underpinning the Z9S is the e³ platform, also known as ‘Yi San Fang’. Denza states that this platform delivers performance exceeding that of million-yuan hypercars. A particularly exciting debut feature is the ‘Newbie Drift Mode’, designed to allow even novice drivers to experience drifting safely and easily.
In terms of raw power, the Denza Z9S boasts a combined maximum horsepower of 1210Ps. This figure positions it as the leading luxury sedan globally within the 500,000 yuan price bracket. Its acceleration is equally striking, with a 0-100 km/h time of just 2.68 seconds, also claiming the top spot among luxury sedans under 500,000 yuan.
Market Position and Future Outlook
The arrival of the show cars at dealerships signifies that potential customers can now get a closer look at the Z9S, likely fueling further interest and pre-orders. The combination of record-breaking range, ultra-fast charging, supercar-level performance, and advanced intelligent driving features at its price point suggests Denza is aiming to disrupt the luxury electric vehicle market.
With the pre-sale now well underway and physical vehicles reaching showrooms, the Denza Z9S is moving closer to its official market launch. BYD’s continued innovation with its Denza sub-brand underscores the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and performance.
