iOS 18 is already called the most ambitious update in recent years. It is expected to contain significant changes, improvements, and generative artificial intelligence features. In his Power On newsletter, trusted analyst Mark Gurman reveals the changes that the next-generation operating system update will bring to standard iPhone apps.
Gourmet reports that the upcoming iOS 18 update will update Apple’s most popular built-in apps including Mail, Notes, Photos, and Fitness. He doesn’t dive into specific details, but we can expect these apps to get new features and a redesign. It’s worth noting that the main apps on the iPhone are not updated through the App Store. They are only updated through iOS updates.
Recently, it was rumored that the Notes app would be getting two impressive new features, including the ability to record audio and the ability to perform complex math calculations. The latter is likely to be made possible by integrating the Calculator into the Notes app. Exclusive topographic maps for Apple Watch are also expected to appear in the Apple Maps app on iOS 18.
Gurman also adds that iOS 18 will bring changes to the Home screen. It will allow users to pin apps anywhere on the screen, instead of being limited to the grids that exist now. This will make the app design more modular and easier to update and customize.
The announcement of iOS 18 will take place at the WWDC conference, which starts on June 10.
