Tim Cook, the former CEO and current Executive Chairman of Apple’s Board of Directors, made a visit to the headquarters of Chinese streaming giant iQIYI. He was personally welcomed by iQIYI’s CEO, Gong Yu.
A Look at Apple’s Integration with iQIYI
Photos shared by attendees showed a timeline display prepared by iQIYI, illustrating the company’s historical integration with various Apple devices. This visual representation highlighted specific Apple models and the years iQIYI adapted its services for them.
According to one blogger, the purpose of the visit may have been to review the integration progress of ‘iPhone Duo’ (though the exact meaning of this term in this context is unclear without further source details), with expectations that Cook would observe related content during his visit. This suggests a focus on how iQIYI’s platform performs and integrates with Apple’s ecosystem, particularly on their mobile devices.
Cook’s Ongoing China Trip
This visit to iQIYI’s headquarters is part of Tim Cook’s current trip to China, which began earlier this month. His journey started in Guangzhou, as indicated by his social media updates. Prior to his visit to iQIYI, Cook was seen at Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management.
Reports from netizens indicated that Cook’s presence at Tsinghua University coincided with the 2026 meeting of the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management Advisory Board. This placement suggests potential engagement with academic and business leaders in China.
Tim Cook’s visits to prominent Chinese tech companies and institutions underscore the importance of the Chinese market for Apple and highlight ongoing collaborations and strategic discussions within the region’s technology landscape. While specific details about discussions held during the iQIYI visit remain limited, the presence of both Cook and Gong Yu signifies a notable interaction between two major players in the tech and entertainment sectors.
