Apple's smart home hub is delayed

It may be some time before we see the smart home hub that Apple is rumored to be working on. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company has postponed the announcement of the upcoming product due to the problems it faced in developing a smarter Siri. Last month, Gurman reported that the release of Apple’s updated Siri could be delayed, and Apple confirmed this in a statement to Daring Fireball last week, saying it expects to roll out more personalized Siri features “next year.” According to Gurman, the smart home hub “relies to some extent on Siri’s deferred capabilities.”

Earlier, Gurman reported that the first version of the smart home display could be presented in March. It will compete with Amazon’s Echo line of devices and Google’s Nest Hub. Although a March release seems unlikely, Gurman reports that Apple is already allowing some employees to test it at home.
