Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 series in September this year. However, the successor to this series has already been in the rumor mill. Rumors claim that Apple will abandon the “Plus” model in favor of the “Slim” model starting with the iPhone 17 series.

The “Slim” model is expected to bridge the gap between non-Pro and Pro models.

According to the report, Apple has introduced some “bold innovations” when it comes to the look of the iPhone 17 Slim. The model will reportedly be thinner and lighter compared to current models. Apple will use aluminum for the body. The camera island will be placed horizontally, reportedly resembling the design of the Pixel 8 series. However, Apple recently reverted to vertical camera placement to support Spatial Video, and it’s unclear if the feature will be able to function with horizontal camera placement.

The front of the device will have a narrower dynamic island, possibly due to the fact that the company has switched to a more compact “metal” for the Face ID sensor. The design of the iPhone 17 Slim will reportedly be similar to the iPhone X.

The “slim” model will have a 6.55-inch screen on the front. It is expected to fill the gap between non-Pro and Pro models. For comparison, the iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch display. In addition, it became known that the iPhone 17 Slim will also support a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is noteworthy that this will be the first iPhone model in the history of the iPhone that does not belong to the Pro category to support a high refresh rate. The base model of the iPhone 17 series may also receive a 120Hz refresh rate.

While the models will offer a higher refresh rate, it will also be adaptive like the Pro models, meaning that the phone will automatically adjust the refresh rate depending on the content displayed on the screen.
