Apple plans to save battery power thanks to AI

Apple‘s iOS 19 update may include an artificial intelligence-based feature designed to save battery power, according to a report by Bloomberg. The battery management tool will reportedly optimize your iPhone’s power consumption based on how you use your device.

The new feature will use “battery data collected from users’ devices to understand trends and make predictions about when to reduce the power consumption of certain apps or features,” Bloomberg reports.

Google launched its machine learning-based Adaptive Battery on Android in 2018 and says it analyzes phone usage patterns to determine which apps should be limited to running in the background and which should be prioritized. In the Android settings, you can control which apps are allowed to run in the background to check for updated data and notifications.

iOS 19 will also reportedly introduce an indicator on the lock screen to show how long it will take to fully charge the phone.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is basically launching AI battery management for the upcoming iPhone 17, which is rumored to be the company’s thinnest phone yet. Its slim design means that it will have a smaller battery, making battery conservation more important. The artificial intelligence tool will be available for all iPhones with iOS 19, not just the iPhone 17, Bloomberg reports.

According to rumors, iOS 19 will also receive a wider redesign. Apple will most likely present the update to developers during the Worldwide Developers Conference in June and then release it to the public in September.
