According to a press release, Apple is adding a recipe section to its News app that will be available to News Plus subscribers. The new section, Apple News Plus Food, will be available as part of iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 when these updates are released in April.
The section will feature “tens of thousands of recipes” from “the world’s leading culinary publishers, including Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Good Food, and Serious Eats,” according to Apple. Recipes will be displayed in a “beautifully designed format that makes it easy to view ingredients and instructions,” and the app will feature “a new cooking mode that expands step-by-step instructions to full screen.”
Apple News Plus Food will also contain stories curated by Apple News editors. Apple says that “selected stories and recipes” will also be available to non-Plus subscribers.
The addition of the recipe section brings the Apple News app even closer to competing with the main New York Times app. Apple News Plus subscribers also have access to games such as crossword puzzles and Sudoku.
