Harmony Intelligent Mobility (鸿蒙智行) has officially unveiled the interior and exterior details of its upcoming flagship SUV, the AITO M8. The new model introduces two fresh exterior paint options, ‘Sky Curtain Green’ (天幕青) and ‘Cang Rong Green’ (苍戎绿), alongside an entirely new palette for the cabin, featuring ‘Gravel Brown’ (沙砾棕) and ‘Moonlight White’ (澜月白).
A Closer Look at the AITO M8
The AITO M8 has already passed Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)申报, confirming its dimensions at 5190mm in length, 1999mm in width, and 1795mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3105mm. Customers can choose from four tire specifications: 255/50R20, 265/45R21, 275/50R20, and 285/45R21. Optional features include different styles of wheel rims, side pedals, and ETC onboard devices.
Exterior Design
The front fascia of the M8 is characterized by a sleek, horizontal light strip complemented by a closed-off, mesh-like grille. This grille is further accentuated by chrome trim around its perimeter. Notably, the roofline incorporates a lidar module, indicating support for advanced intelligent driving capabilities. The rear of the vehicle features a贯穿式 (through-type) taillight design, with the brand’s logo positioned above the light cluster. The tailgate bears the ‘Seres’ (赛力斯) name on the left and the ‘AITO M8’ model designation on the right. The body is finished in a deep black paint, with chrome accents strategically placed to enhance its luxurious appeal.
Powertrain Options
The AITO M8 will be available in two distinct powertrain configurations: an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version and a pure electric vehicle (BEV) version.
Pure Electric Version
The BEV model is equipped with front and rear dual motors supplied by Huawei’s Digital Energy. The front motor boasts a rated power of 62kW and a peak power of 160kW, while the rear motor offers a rated power of 73kW and a peak power of 227kW. Battery options include two capacities: 120.04329kWh and 97.644kWh, providing pure electric ranges of 675km, 708km, 800km, and 830km, depending on the configuration.
Extended-Range Version
The EREV version features a 1.5T (HG15T) engine manufactured by Chongqing Sokon Power Co., Ltd., with a displacement of 1496mL and a maximum engine power of 118kW. This powertrain meets China’s National VI emission standards and achieves a WLTC fuel consumption of 0.50L/100km. It also utilizes front and rear dual motors, with the front motor rated at 40kW and peaking at 170kW, and the rear motor rated at 73kW and peaking at 227kW. The maximum speed for the EREV version is 200km/h. Battery options for the EREV include 75.408kWh and 56.036kWh, offering pure electric ranges of 256km, 358km, and 365km.
Strategic Direction
This unveiling follows recent discussions about the strategic direction of the AITO brand. Richard Yu (余承东), CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, has previously stated that new models launched by AITO this year are primarily led and designed by Huawei’s team. He also addressed adjustments in the brand’s cooperative model, noting that Seres proactively proposed taking the lead in certain aspects, a move supported by Huawei.
