Samsung is getting closer to launching its new ruggedized tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 5. The new tablet has already appeared on several certification sites, including Singapore’s IMDA, TDRA from the UAE, and others. Following the previous trend, the long-awaited ruggedized tablet has appeared on the Thai NBTC website with the model code SM-X306B.

The listing confirms that it supports 5G and will be released soon. Other than that, there is almost no information about the tablet’s technical specifications.

Renders of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 have recently surfaced, shedding light on the tablet’s design and even confirming some notable features, such as a single rear camera. The rugged tablet seems to feature an 8-inch display with thick bezels around the edges. There are three physical buttons: “Menu, Back, and Home, which can be operated with gloves on. In addition, it is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with enhanced display protection and has a single front-facing camera. The MIL-STD-810H certified device has a single 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash.

According to the FCC, the tablet will feature an S Pen stylus with a customizable programmable key, and will be IP68-rated, which is the same as the device’s protection level. In addition to the hardware features, it will be equipped with Samsung’s well-known Knox security protection, face recognition, and fingerprint scanning.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 is expected to feature an Exynos 1380 SoC, 6 GB of RAM, and 64/128 GB of internal storage. It will also support expandable memory and come with a 5050 mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, it will include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS connectivity. The new tablet will run Android 14 out of the box and will be available in black and gray colors.

Details about the announcement and price are still being kept under wraps, but we expect it to hit the market alongside the Galaxy XCover 7 rugged phone. More details are expected to emerge soon due to leaks.
