The average number of searches per minute on Google has increased by 65% over the past year. While in 2022, there were 5.9 million searches every 60 seconds, in 2023 this figure reached as many as 9 million. The growing popularity of the Internet and the number of users is increasing the need to store more information.

This is evidenced by a study conducted by the largest Ukrainian cloud operator UCloud.

The company’s specialists analyzed data from various resources that track the use of global services, including those that store data in the cloud.

The world is constantly globalizing. The world’s population has already exceeded 8 billion, of which 5.16 billion are Internet users. This is about 64.4%. At the same time, in Ukraine, this number has grown to72%. On average, each person spends at least 3 hours on the Internet every day. Irregular users account for 13% of citizens, and 14% of respondents do not use the Internet at all.

“The further we go, the more people use the Internet. This trend continues not only globally but also in Ukraine. For example, we are constantly increasing the capacity of our transmission channels. That is why there is a need to take even more care of the safety of your data,” says Sergey Polyakov, Head of Sales at UCloud.

The full-scale war in Ukraine has affected trends in Internet use. Ukrainians began to pay much more attention to news and information messages. At the same time, the amount of disinformation online has increased dramatically, indicating an active phase of the information war.

According to the civil society organization Opora, Ukrainians receive most of their information from social networks, television and the Internet (excluding social networks). The Internet, with its dangers, is in the top three. Therefore, it is very important to learn how to distinguish fakes and check the veracity of information in order to avoid becoming a victim of information warfare. It is also worth remembering about cyber protection of your information, as the number of hacker attacks has increased significantly since the beginning of the full-scale war.
