At the 2026 Mobile Network Conference held in Guangzhou, China Mobile unveiled its ambitious “6G Smart App Co-creation Action.” This initiative aims to foster innovation and collaboration across the industry to explore the vast potential of 6G technology.
Pioneering the Future of Connectivity
Wang Xiaoyun, Chief Engineer of China Mobile and an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, presented the vision for 6G, describing it as the foundational network for the intelligent era. She emphasized that 6G will not only enhance connectivity but also provide services beyond traditional networking, supporting the widespread adoption of intelligent agents like AI-powered mobile phones and a trillion intelligent robots.
The upcoming 6G network is set to redefine capabilities with three core strengths:
- Enhanced Uplink: 6G will boost uplink speeds to the Gbps level, crucial for uploading massive amounts of data required for intelligent agents’ perception and interaction, especially under concurrent multi-agent scenarios.
- Determinism: Beyond ultra-low latency, 6G will significantly reduce jitter to millisecond-level, enabling precise control for intelligent agents, which will be vital for applications such as remote operation of intelligent robots.
- Group Connectivity: 6G will facilitate dynamic discovery and flexible networking among multiple intelligent agents in seconds, ensuring efficient collaborative intelligence through ultra-low latency interactions.
Beyond Connectivity: Integrated Services
In addition to enhanced connectivity, 6G will offer integrated services encompassing computing power, data, and security:
- Ubiquitous Low-Latency Computing: 6G will provide localized intelligent computing resources, allowing terminals to offload inference tasks to the network on demand. This will lead to lighter, longer-lasting, and more cost-effective devices.
- High-Quality, Open Data Services: 6G base stations will possess environmental sensing capabilities. By sharing spatio-temporal data, these base stations will empower AI model training and inference applications.
- Trusted Security Management: 6G will implement robust security features, including intelligent agent authentication and end-to-end trustworthiness, ensuring that intelligent agents can be securely integrated, identified, and traced.
The “One, Ten, Hundred, Thousand” Action Plan
To accelerate the development and adoption of 6G smart applications, China Mobile has launched the “One, Ten, Hundred, Thousand” action plan, supported by a set of practical measures:
- One Set of Experimental Facilities: Establishing 6G training grounds across multiple cities and sites, covering diverse scenarios. These grounds will offer capabilities for application incubation, product development, and end-to-end testing.
- Ten Major Domains: Focusing on ten high-value 6G application scenarios, including networked robots, AI terminals, immersive communication, integrated space-air-ground-sea systems, intelligent agent collaborative intelligence, industrial intelligence, smart energy, smart logistics, intelligent transportation, and digital and intelligent construction. This involves identifying real demands from new intelligent terminals, carriers, and key industries.
- Hundred Tasks: Defining and executing a series of focused research tasks for application incubation, product development, and business model exploration. This also includes adapting network capabilities to application requirements and driving end-to-end technological innovation.
- Thousand Partners: Mobilizing a broad network of partners, including state-owned enterprises, internet giants, leading AI companies, and startups, to co-create value and share achievements.
The “DRIVE” Strategy for Co-creation
Complementing the action plan, China Mobile will implement the “DRIVE” strategy, comprising five key initiatives:
- Deploying open network experimental facilities as a core support.
- Reserving over a billion RMB in R&D cooperation funds to support key technological breakthroughs and application innovation.
- Integrating cross-disciplinary experts to foster talent for industry collaboration.
- Verifying support through a ten-billion RMB industrial investment fund to nurture specialized and innovative enterprises.
- Empowering the ecosystem by sharing opportunities to accelerate the commercialization of innovations.
Industry leaders from companies like CATL, Uursh, Siemens, and Rokid expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative via video messages, underscoring the collaborative spirit driving the future of 6G.
