The Huawei MatePad Mini tablet is now receiving the HarmonyOS 7.0.0.111 SP16 update, bringing a significant enhancement in connectivity with the introduction of the inter-device communication and network sharing feature.

HarmonyOS 7.0.0.111 SP16 Update Rolls Out

Users of the Huawei MatePad Mini have started reporting the rollout of the latest HarmonyOS update. The system package for this update is approximately 657.43MB in size. This update is particularly noteworthy for its inclusion of the enhanced communication sharing capabilities, a feature designed to foster a more interconnected ecosystem among Huawei devices running HarmonyOS 7.

Introducing Inter-Device Communication Sharing

The new version introduces a powerful communication sharing function. This feature allows for multi-device mutual communication and network sharing between phones, tablets, and Huawei PCs that are all running HarmonyOS 7. Users can initiate this sharing by simply tapping devices together or by logging into the same Huawei account. This creates an inter-device network that can provide a more stable network connection, especially in scenarios where mobile network signals are weak or network load is high.

How Communication Sharing Works

According to information from Huawei’s official website, the communication sharing between a phone and a tablet supports sharing the phone’s dual-SIM calling, SMS, and network capabilities, including eSIM. When the phone switches between its dual-SIM networks, the tablet’s network connection can follow suit, ensuring seamless connectivity. However, it’s important to note that communication sharing between two phones only supports sharing network capabilities, including eSIM.

Device Limitations and Network Acceleration

For this feature to work, both the sharing device (phone) and the receiving device (phone or tablet) must be running HarmonyOS 7 or a later version. A single device can share its network with up to three other devices simultaneously, or connect to the networks of up to three devices concurrently. To further enhance the user experience, the network sharing function utilizes Huawei Cloud for accelerated connectivity, aiming to provide a faster and more responsive internet experience.

This update signifies Huawei’s continued commitment to refining its HarmonyOS ecosystem, offering users more integrated and intelligent ways to stay connected across their devices.
