Xiaomi’s Redmi Book 2027 laptop series is set to launch on October 27th, bringing a refreshed design and a highly anticipated feature for its larger model: a dedicated numeric keypad.

The upcoming laptops will be powered by Intel’s latest Core platform and boast a substantial 72Wh battery, promising enhanced mobile productivity. A key highlight for the 16-inch variant is the inclusion of a numeric keypad, a feature that product marketing director Ma Zhiyu confirmed has been a long-standing request from users.

While a numeric keypad on a 16-inch laptop isn’t a groundbreaking technical feat, its addition signifies a shift in product definition and user-centric design choices by Xiaomi. This move addresses a gap that users have been vocal about, aiming to improve efficiency for tasks involving frequent numerical input.

Further details about the Redmi Book 2027 series suggest a departure from previous designs, with the 16-inch model expected to feature an Intel Core 5 320 processor. Notably, the new generation will offer user-replaceable DDR5 memory, moving away from the soldered RAM found in earlier models. This upgrade provides users with greater flexibility and potential for future upgrades.

The 14-inch version is rumored to sport a sharp 2.8K resolution display. Both models are expected to retain a comprehensive port selection, including dual USB-A, dual USB-C, HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, ensuring broad connectivity for peripherals and external displays.

A significant enhancement across the entire series will be the integration of Super XiaoAi 2.0, Xiaomi’s intelligent assistant. This updated version promises improved cross-device collaboration and AI-powered office assistance, aiming to streamline workflows and boost productivity for users within the Xiaomi ecosystem.

For the 16-inch model, thermal management is also reportedly receiving an upgrade, with a dual-fan and 10mm heat pipe system expected to ensure sustained performance during demanding tasks.

As a point of reference, the previous generation Redmi Book 14 (2026) had a starting price of 6499 yuan for the 16GB+512GB configuration. Initial sales saw prices drop to 5499 yuan, and with government subsidies, some channels even offered it in the 4800 yuan range. The pricing and configuration details for the 2027 series are yet to be fully revealed, but expectations are high for competitive offerings.

The upcoming launch on October 27th is anticipated to reveal the full specifications, pricing, and availability of the Redmi Book 2027 series, including different color options and the finalized design that promises a comprehensive upgrade in both aesthetics and functionality.
