JD.com, a leading e-commerce giant, is significantly expanding its commitment to the robotics sector by launching a comprehensive after-sales repair service network. This initiative marks a year since JD.com first ventured into robot repair services and has already established partnerships with nearly a hundred robotics companies, including prominent names like Zhiyuan, Cloud Deep, Zhongqing, and Songyan Power. This collaboration ensures that JD.com’s services cover almost all leading robot manufacturers.

Expanding Service Capabilities

The extensive range of services offered by JD.com includes installation and debugging, usage guidance, delivery and deployment, event and competition support, basic repairs, fault diagnosis, battery replacement, testing and authentication, screen protection, aesthetic refurbishment, maintenance, and equipment recycling. This broad scope demonstrates JD.com’s ambition to become a one-stop solution for robot after-sales care.

Global Network and Digital Management

Looking ahead, JD.com plans to construct a global robot after-sales repair network that will span over 100 countries within the next five years. To support this expansion, the company has developed its proprietary Robot After-Sales Service SaaS system. This system provides manufacturers, rental service providers, and end-users with integrated digital management services, featuring intelligent fault prediction, automated dispatching, and both on-site and in-warehouse maintenance.

Job Creation and Workforce Development

A key objective of this initiative is significant job creation. JD.com intends to establish 10 training and certification centers across China and aims to create over 100,000 employment opportunities for robot repair engineers in the next five years. Furthermore, JD.com is committed to facilitating the career transition of its existing logistics workforce, particularly delivery personnel, into becoming skilled robot repair engineers. Through systematic training and practical experience, the company aims to build a highly qualified and professional robot repair team, thereby supporting the professional development of its frontline employees.

This strategic move by JD.com not only addresses the growing need for specialized robot maintenance but also highlights the company’s vision for integrating advanced technology with its existing logistics infrastructure and workforce.

The company’s investment in training and infrastructure underscores its dedication to building a robust ecosystem for robotics in China and potentially globally. By leveraging its extensive logistics network and operational expertise, JD.com is well-positioned to become a dominant player in the robot after-sales service market.
