During the launch event for the SAIC Volkswagen ID. ERA 8X, Chen Feng, Executive Deputy Director of the Volkswagen Brand Marketing Division at SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd., emphasized the company’s commitment to rigorous development processes. He stated that SAIC Volkswagen says “no” to customized vehicles, rushed development, dual standards, borderline products, and excessive component stacking.
No Shortcuts in Development
Chen Feng highlighted that while development timelines can be accelerated, the validation and tuning processes will never take shortcuts. “Development can be expedited, but not a single validation step can be skipped,” he asserted. He pointed to the extensive testing regimes, including over 1 million kilometers of road testing and 500,000 kilometers of off-site durability testing, as evidence of their meticulous approach.
“Because we know that in the end, it’s not test parameters or configuration lists that sit in the car, but real users and their families. Everyone in the car is someone SAIC Volkswagen cares about the most.”
Brake Pedal Durability Under the Spotlight
In a conversation with ID. ERA 8X brand ambassador Li Zhiting, Chen Feng specifically addressed the importance of critical components like the brake pedal. He used a vivid analogy, stating that the brake pedal must be able to withstand use and should not be like a “snap-off crab” that breaks with a single press. This metaphor underscores the critical nature of safety and reliability in the vehicles produced by SAIC Volkswagen.
The company’s stance signifies a dedication to producing high-quality, reliable vehicles that prioritize user safety and long-term satisfaction over rapid market entry or cost-cutting measures. This philosophy is deeply ingrained in their approach to vehicle development, ensuring that every stage, from initial design to final validation, is carried out with the utmost diligence.
SAIC Volkswagen’s commitment to rigorous testing and validation, even when facing pressures to speed up development, reflects a mature understanding of automotive engineering and a strong sense of responsibility towards its customers. The emphasis on real-world user experience and the safety of occupants reinforces their position as a manufacturer focused on enduring quality and trustworthiness.
