China Telecom is taking food safety to a new level, extending its ‘Visible Kitchen’ initiative beyond the kitchen itself to the crucial realm of food delivery. The company has launched the ‘EatSafe Seal’ (食安封签) solution, integrating a ‘one-code traceability’ system to add an extra layer of security for takeout orders.

From Visible Kitchens to Secure Deliveries

Building upon the ‘Visible Kitchen’ concept, which brought the cooking process into the public eye, China Telecom’s latest innovation aims to ensure safety throughout the entire delivery chain. In Shanghai, the ‘EatSafe Cloud Supervision – EatSafe Seal’ solution has been introduced, establishing a comprehensive and traceable smart supervision system.

AI-Powered Kitchen Oversight

The ‘Tianyi Vision’ (天翼视联) ‘Internet+ Visible Kitchen’ platform combines real-time video streaming with intelligent AI analysis. This technology extends smart supervision to every stage of food preparation, including ingredient handling, sampling, and processing. The system boasts seven AI recognition capabilities designed to detect and flag violations within the kitchen environment. These include identifying chefs without proper attire (cook clothes, hats, masks), employees smoking or using mobile phones, and issues like rodent presence or uncovered trash bins.

Alerts for these violations are pushed in real-time. Management personnel can then use two-way audio communication to issue immediate verbal corrections, enabling early detection, prompt intervention, and swift rectification of potential issues.

Securing the Last Mile with Smart Seals

For the specific scenario of food delivery, ‘Tianyi Vision’ ‘Internet+ Visible Kitchen’ now extends its protective reach to the delivery process itself. This is achieved through the deployment of 5G smart sealing machines that apply the ‘EatSafe Seal’ to takeout containers. This seal is designed to be tamper-proof and display evidence of unauthorized opening, effectively adding a ‘safety lock’ to food deliveries.

Traceability for Consumers

In Nanjing, China Telecom has been instrumental in implementing the ‘Tianyi Vision Cloud Supervision + EatSafe Seal’ integrated food safety smart supervision project. This initiative addresses the critical ‘last mile’ challenge in regulating the safety of online food orders.

The 5G smart sealing machine not only applies the tamper-evident ‘EatSafe Seal’ but also works in conjunction with video surveillance recordings. This creates a cloud-based record of the entire process, making it fully traceable. Consumers, upon receiving their meals, can simply scan the smart seal to access this detailed history, providing transparency and peace of mind.

This comprehensive solution demonstrates China Telecom’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology to enhance food safety standards for both businesses and consumers in the rapidly growing food delivery market.
