Mojang has officially announced a brand-new dimension coming to Minecraft, dubbed the Sift. This exciting addition, revealed during the latest Minecraft LIVE event, will first debut in Minecraft Dungeons 2 before making its way to both the Bedrock and Java editions of the main game in 2027.
The Fourth Official Dimension
The Sift dimension is set to stand alongside the existing realms of the Nether, the End, and the Overworld, establishing it as Minecraft’s fourth official dimension. While Mojang kept details about the gameplay mechanics of the Sift dimension under wraps, they did offer a glimpse of its unique aesthetic, new creatures, and distinct environment.
A Visually Striking New Realm
From the official broadcast, the Sift dimension appears to be a visually striking and alien world, characterized by its unique topography, exclusive blocks, and a self-contained ecosystem. Players can expect to encounter a host of entirely new monsters and threats within this mysterious new realm.
Release Roadmap
The initial introduction of the Sift dimension will be through the upcoming title, Minecraft Dungeons 2. This prequel integration suggests that the core concepts and visual identity of the Sift will be established within the dungeon-crawling spin-off. Following this, players of the main Minecraft games will be able to explore the Sift dimension on their PC and console versions (Bedrock and Java) starting in 2027.
This announcement marks a significant expansion for the Minecraft universe, promising new adventures and challenges for its vast player base. The anticipation for the Sift dimension is likely to build as more details emerge closer to its release.
