Recent online discussions about whether the Xiaomi SU7’s rear trunk needs to be emptied when entering “lounge mode” have been addressed by Xiaomi Auto. In a Q&A session (episode 292), the company clarified that emptying the trunk is not necessary.
Trunk Access in Lounge Mode
Xiaomi Auto explained that users only need to ensure that items in the rear trunk do not obstruct the rear seats from sliding backward. This guidance will be provided by the XiaoAI voice assistant. The company emphasized that when these conditions are met, the lounge mode offers ample space for occupants and still retains significant storage capacity in the trunk across all SU7 models.
Space Specifications:
- N70 Series: In lounge mode, the occupant space measures 1687mm. The N70’s trunk retains 662L of storage, capable of holding eight 20-inch suitcases.
- N90 Max: This model offers 1760mm of occupant space in lounge mode. The trunk provides 480L of storage, sufficient for daily necessities like backpacks and gym bags. For weekend trips, it can accommodate a tent, sleeping bags, and coffee brewing equipment. The seating position can be adjusted to further expand trunk capacity if needed.
- N90 Max Discovery Edition: This variant boasts 1813mm of occupant space in lounge mode, with a substantial 773L of trunk storage. The upper section, above the extendable bed board, offers 613L (fitting six 20-inch suitcases), while the space beneath the board provides an additional 160L for items like toolboxes, camping tarps, and chairs.
The Xiaomi SU7 lineup features a flat floor and extended slide rails, based on Xiaomi’s Kunlun technology architecture, allowing for flexible seat adjustments. Users can move seats backward for more social space or forward for increased storage, saving preferred configurations as custom scenes for easy recall. This adaptable space is designed to cater to individual user needs.

Rotating Front Seats vs. Zero-Gravity Seats
The company confirmed that the rotating front seats and the front zero-gravity seats are mutually exclusive options. One must be chosen if desired, as they cannot be selected together.
- Rotating Front Seats: These seats can be electrically rotated with a single button press via the central control screen, the B-pillar physical button on the driver’s side, or XiaoAI voice commands. When rotated, they create a face-to-face seating arrangement with the rear seats, turning the cabin into a “mobile lounge” with the addition of a table board on the sliding center console. This setup is ideal for family outings, gatherings, or business discussions. The N70 Pro, N70 Max, and N90 Max support optional rotating front seats for 18,000 RMB (free during the initial sales period until October 7th, 24:00). The N90 Max Discovery Edition includes them as standard.
- Zero-Gravity Seats: These seats allow front occupants to recline comfortably for rest when parked, enhancing relaxation. The N70 Pro, N70 Max, and N90 Max support optional zero-gravity seats for 18,000 RMB, with a special promotional price of 3,000 RMB during the initial sales period until October 7th, 24:00.
Usage of Rotating Front Seats While Driving
For safety reasons, the front seat rotation function is only operational when the vehicle is in Park (P gear). It cannot be used while the car is in motion.
Electric Welcome Pedal Load Capacity
The optional electric welcome pedals available on all Xiaomi SU7 models are designed for easier and safer entry and exit, especially for children and the elderly. Each pedal can support a maximum weight of 200kg.
Roof Rack Compatibility
The N70 Pro, N70 Max, and N90 Max are equipped with 12 “ecological expansion interfaces,” including specific interfaces for roof racks. This means that roof racks can be installed on these models.
