Zhaoxin Information has officially unveiled its new 1000 Series CPUs, marking a significant expansion into the low-power, embedded, and edge computing markets. These new processors are built on the C86 architecture, designed to offer a lightweight yet powerful solution for a variety of demanding applications.
Expanding the Computing Landscape
According to Sha Chaoqun, President of Zhaoxin Information, the 1000 Series represents the company’s first foray into intelligent computing chips specifically for edge devices. This launch signifies a strategic shift, extending Zhaoxin’s computing footprint beyond the cloud to encompass the edge and end-user terminals.
The 1000 Series is not a single chip but rather a comprehensive product line tailored for edge computing. Zhaoxin plans to dynamically allocate CPU, GPU, and NPU resources within this series to meet the diverse needs of various embedded scenarios, thereby continuously enhancing its embedded product portfolio.
Key Design Pillars of the 1000 Series
Zhaoxin’s previous processor families, the 7000, 5000, and 3000 series, were positioned for flagship, mid-range, and high-value segments, respectively. The new 1000 Series focuses on four core design principles to address the specific requirements of low-power, embedded, and edge computing:
- Security: Built upon indigenous security technologies, the series supports domestic cryptographic standards (GuoMi), ECC memory, secure processors, and hardware-accelerated cryptography, ensuring robust data protection.
- Efficiency: The integrated iGPU supports dual 4K60 displays and mainstream video encoding/decoding capabilities, all while maintaining a low power consumption profile, making it ideal for power-sensitive applications.
- Compatibility: Featuring support for PCIe 4.0 and TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking), along with compatibility for both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, the series leverages the existing C86 software ecosystem. This compatibility significantly reduces migration and adaptation costs for developers.
- Reliability: Enhanced features include support for a wide operating temperature range, long product lifecycles, and capabilities for continuous, stable operation under demanding conditions.
Target Applications and Future Collaborations
The versatility of the Zhaoxin 1000 Series makes it suitable for a broad spectrum of industries and applications. These include industrial automation, network edge computing, energy utilities, transportation systems, and industrial robotics, among others.
During the launch event, Zhaoxin also initiated the “Synergize Partners, Voyage to the Stars” partner program. This initiative aims to foster collaboration with industry partners to drive joint innovation and ensure seamless software and hardware adaptation for the new processor series.
