The Nanning to Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway (also known as Nanzhu High-Speed Rail) is taking a significant step towards completion. On September 11th at 8:00 AM, a testing train departed from Yulin North Station, heading towards Cenxi East Station. This marked the official commencement of joint testing and commissioning for the Yulin North to Cenxi East section of the Nanzhu High-Speed Rail, referred to as the Yu-Cen section.

Key Details of the Yu-Cen Section

The Yu-Cen section begins at Yulin North Station and extends eastward through Yulin City’s Bobai City and Rong County, concluding at Cenxi City in Wuzhou. This segment spans approximately 85 kilometers and is designed for a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

Two new stations have been constructed for this section: Rongxian South and Cenxi East. The Yu-Cen section seamlessly connects with the Nanning to Yulin segment of the Nanzhu High-Speed Rail, which began operations in December 2024, at Yulin North Station.

Understanding Joint Testing and Commissioning

Joint testing and commissioning is a critical phase before any high-speed railway line can officially open to the public. During this period, railway authorities utilize specialized testing trains and equipment to conduct comprehensive checks on all the high-speed rail’s systems. This includes verifying their functionality, performance, operational status, and how well they interact with each other.

The primary goal of this rigorous process is to identify any potential issues, fine-tune system performance, and ensure that the entire railway system meets the designed standards. Successful completion of joint testing and commissioning is essential for guaranteeing that the railway can operate safely and efficiently at its intended design speed.

Significance for Regional Connectivity

The Nanzhu High-Speed Rail project aims to enhance connectivity between the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province. This new section, once operational, will significantly reduce travel times between Yulin, Cenxi, and other major cities along the route, fostering economic development and facilitating easier travel for passengers.

The introduction of 350 km/h operational speeds on this segment places it among China’s fastest railway lines, underscoring the nation’s continued investment in advanced transportation infrastructure. This development is part of a broader strategy to build a high-speed rail network that connects major economic centers across the country.

As the Yu-Cen section moves through its testing phases, anticipation builds for its eventual opening, promising a new era of rapid transit for the region.
