Keeway Motor has officially launched its highly anticipated 650RR motorcycle, marking a significant entry into the performance bike segment. Available now, the 650RR comes with a competitive price tag of 33,977 Chinese Yuan (approximately $4,680 USD).
Performance and Engineering Prowess
At the heart of the Keeway 650RR lies a brand-new, in-house developed 645cc four-cylinder engine. This powerplant boasts an impressive maximum horsepower of 124 PS and a peak torque of 69 N·m. The motorcycle is engineered for exhilarating acceleration, achieving 0-100 km/h in approximately 3.4 seconds, with a top speed designed to reach 260 km/h.
The frame of the 650RR is constructed to WSBK (World Superbike) racing standards, featuring a remarkable bending stiffness exceeding 8000 N·m/°. It employs a unique six-point structure that integrates the engine directly into the chassis, effectively making the engine a reinforced unit. This design not only enhances rigidity but also contributes to weight reduction, resulting in a nimble wet weight of just 188kg.
Braking and Handling Dynamics
Complementing its potent performance, the 650RR is equipped with a robust braking system. The front features dual opposing four-piston calipers (Tesk) paired with dual floating discs, while the rear utilizes a single-piston caliper (Tesk) with a single disc. This setup delivers impressive stopping power, achieving a 100–0 km/h braking distance of 38.3 meters. Notably, the braking system demonstrates exceptional endurance, with no fade recorded over 20 consecutive 100–0 km/h braking tests. For higher speed deceleration, the 200–0 km/h braking distance is 150 meters.
Model Variants and Pricing
Keeway is offering the 650RR in two distinct versions:
- Standard Edition: Available in ‘Light Blade White’ and ‘Liquid Metal Silver’ colorways, priced at 33,977 Yuan.
- Genesis Edition: This limited edition comes in ‘Track Red Blade Blue’ and is restricted to only 777 units worldwide. It shares the same price point of 33,977 Yuan as the standard edition.
The launch of the Keeway 650RR signifies a bold move by the manufacturer, aiming to capture the attention of riders seeking a blend of high-performance engineering, track-inspired design, and competitive pricing. With its potent four-cylinder engine and advanced chassis technology, the 650RR is poised to make a strong statement in the motorcycle market.
