Lenovo has officially announced the ThinkBook 14 G9 Q8Y, a new business laptop powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X2 Plus processor. The announcement was made at IFA 2026, signaling a significant move for the company integrating ARM-based chips into its renowned ThinkBook lineup.

Performance and Design

The ThinkBook 14 G9 Q8Y is built around the Snapdragon X2 Plus, a processor designed to offer a balance of performance and power efficiency with a 25W TDP. This architecture promises a new era of thin and light laptops that don’t compromise on productivity.

The device features a sleek design, measuring just 17.39mm thin and starting at a weight of 1.3kg, making it highly portable for professionals on the go. It supports up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking capabilities.

Display and Storage

For visual performance, the laptop is equipped with a 14-inch display boasting a 1920×1200 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. While detailed specifications are still emerging, the mention of a “low color gamut” screen suggests that this particular configuration might be geared towards standard business productivity rather than color-critical creative tasks. The display also offers a brightness of 400 nits.

Storage needs are met with two M.2 SSD slots, allowing for flexible and expandable storage solutions, with pre-installed options going up to 1TB. The screen also has an optional touch-enabled variant for enhanced interactivity.

Connectivity and Features

Lenovo has equipped the ThinkBook 14 G9 Q8Y with modern connectivity options. It includes a Wi-Fi 7 wireless network card, supporting up to 320MHz bandwidth for faster and more reliable wireless connections. The external I/O ports are comprehensive, featuring two USB-C ports (10Gbps), one USB-A port (10Gbps), another USB-A port (5Gbps), an HDMI 2.1 port, an SD card reader, and an audio jack.

Further enhancing user experience, the laptop includes a backlit keyboard, a large 120mm x 75mm touchpad, and integrated 2W speakers. For video conferencing, it sports an FHD IR camera.

Availability and Pricing

The new Qualcomm-powered ThinkBook 14 G9 Q8Y is slated for release in October 2026. In the European market, the starting price will be 1,099 Euros, which translates to approximately 8,588 Chinese Yuan at current exchange rates.

This launch at IFA 2026 underscores Lenovo’s commitment to exploring and integrating new processor technologies to meet the evolving demands of the business computing landscape.
