Get ready for a new era of smartphones! Nubia, in collaboration with ZTE and ByteDance, is set to launch the Nubia NaviX Ultra, the world’s first AI agent smartphone. This groundbreaking device, also dubbed the “Doubao Phone Second Generation,” is scheduled for release this September.

Revolutionary Memory Technology

A key highlight of the NaviX Ultra is its cutting-edge memory. Nubia has partnered with Changxin Memory (CXMT) to integrate LPDDR5X RAM clocked at an impressive 10667Mbps. This marks a significant milestone as it’s the first mass-produced application of domestically developed 10667Mbps LPDDR5X chips, signaling China’s entry into the high-speed mobile DRAM market.

CXMT emphasizes that these new memory chips, with capacities up to 16Gb, offer approximately 25% more bandwidth compared to the mainstream 8533Mbps versions currently available. Furthermore, they boast a 30% reduction in power consumption over standard LPDDR5. This performance level is on par with offerings from leading international manufacturers.

Top-Tier Performance and Features

Under the hood, the Nubia NaviX Ultra is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform. It features a vibrant 6.78-inch 1.5K straight display with a fluid 144Hz refresh rate. Powering the device is a substantial 7100mAh battery.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the quad-camera setup, with four 50MP sensors – three on the rear and one for selfies. The phone will be available in a range of attractive colors, including Blue Realm, Dreamland, Black, and White.

The AI Agent Difference

What truly sets the NaviX Ultra apart is its positioning as an AI agent smartphone, powered by the Doubao Phone Assistant. This assistant is designed around four core capabilities: understanding user intent, executing tasks, remembering context, and ensuring security.

Ni Fei, Senior Vice President of ZTE and President of the Terminal Business Unit, explained the paradigm shift: “Previous AI phones had ‘hardware-added AI features,’ whereas AI agent smartphones transform the phone itself into an intelligent assistant.” He elaborated that an AI agent can comprehend natural language commands and autonomously coordinate multiple applications to perform complex tasks like price comparisons, order placement, and travel planning.

Crucially, all core large model computations are processed locally on the device, meaning user data does not need to be uploaded to the cloud, enhancing privacy and security. Ni Fei also highlighted the journey from the initial technical preview in December last year to the current network access license, signifying that the final stretch from concept to mass production for AI agent smartphones is well underway.

With its combination of advanced hardware, domestic memory innovation, and a truly intelligent AI agent core, the Nubia NaviX Ultra is poised to redefine the smartphone experience.
