ASRock has quietly launched its new B550M Pro-A WiFi 6E motherboard, an updated version of its popular B550M Pro-A model. This Micro-ATX board is designed for AMD’s AM4 platform and brings enhanced wireless connectivity with the addition of Wi-Fi 6E support.
Enhanced Connectivity for AM4
The B550M Pro-A WiFi 6E is built to support a range of AMD Ryzen processors, including the 3000, 4000G, 5000, and 5000G series. It features a robust 8-phase power delivery system, ensuring stable performance for compatible CPUs. For memory, the motherboard is equipped with four DDR4 DIMM slots, offering ample capacity for users’ needs.
Expansion and Storage Options
In terms of expansion, the B550M Pro-A WiFi 6E provides one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for high-speed graphics cards, alongside one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot and two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots for additional peripherals. Storage connectivity is handled by two M.2 slots, one of which supports the faster PCIe 4.0 x4 standard, and four SATA 6Gb/s ports for traditional hard drives and SSDs.
Wi-Fi 6E Integration
The key upgrade from its predecessor is the integrated Wi-Fi 6E module. This latest wireless standard operates in the 6 GHz band, offering significantly lower latency and higher speeds compared to previous Wi-Fi generations, provided compatible devices and routers are used. This makes the motherboard a compelling option for users seeking a cutting-edge wireless networking experience on the AM4 platform.
Pricing and Availability
ASRock has not yet officially announced the retail price for the B550M Pro-A WiFi 6E motherboard. However, technology publication TechPowerUp estimates the price to be around $90 USD, which translates to approximately 607.1 Chinese Yuan based on current exchange rates. Further details on availability are expected soon.
