Li Auto is gearing up to unveil the next generation of its MEGA model, teasing a striking new ‘Panda White’ pearl paint and exclusive white ‘flying saucer’ wheels. The announcement, made via the company’s official Weibo account on August 28th, signals a fresh aesthetic for the highly anticipated electric vehicle.

Official Debut Scheduled for September 2nd

Li Auto has officially confirmed that the new generation MEGA will be launched on September 2nd. This upcoming release follows the earlier confirmation of the Li MEGA Home variant in the 408th batch of new product announcements by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in June.

Dimensions and Seating Configuration

The Li MEGA Home boasts impressive dimensions: a length of 5355 mm, width of 1965 mm, and height of 1850 mm, with a substantial wheelbase of 3300 mm. The vehicle has an unladen weight of 2925 kg and can reach a top speed of 200 km/h.

Designed as a 7-seater, including the driver, the interior features a 2/2/3 seating layout. The second-row seats offer longitudinal sliding adjustment but the backrests cannot be folded onto the cushions or rotated. The third-row seats have backrests that can fold onto the cushions and can be tilted forward by 85 degrees, but they cannot slide longitudinally. With all three rows in normal use, the cargo area offers a longitudinal length of 680 mm. When the third-row seats are folded and tilted, this space expands to 1066 mm.

Powertrain and Advanced Technology

Under the hood, the Li MEGA is powered by a dual-motor setup, with one motor manufactured by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and the other by Jiangsu Li Auto Drive Technology Co., Ltd. These motors produce outputs of 155 kW and 258 kW, respectively. The vehicle draws power from a ternary lithium-ion battery pack, with individual cells produced by CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited) and assembled by CATL (Jiaocheng) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

A notable upgrade includes the integration of new semi-hidden door handles. Furthermore, the vehicle’s sensor suite has been enhanced with the addition of side and rear solid-state lidar, increasing the total number of lidar units on the vehicle from one to four. This significant boost in lidar capabilities suggests advancements in autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems.

Interior Design Hints

Based on selectable accessory images, the interior of the new MEGA appears set to align with the design language of the recently released all-new Li L9. A prominent feature will be a new integrated, continuous display screen, signaling a modern and technologically advanced cabin environment.
