The National Communications Regulation Commission is calling for a reduction of the fees for interconnection of mobile communications operators’ networks (the interconnection fees).
Volodymyr Paschuk, a member of the National Communications Regulation Commission, announced this at a conference on regulation of this area of telecommunications.
“Payment for access should be minimized. The ideal option is when it simply tends toward zero,” he said.
He added that the idea of reducing the interconnection fees is based on the general practice on the European telecommunications market.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukrtelecom, the largest telecommunications company in Ukraine, has called for cancellation of interconnection fees.
The size of interconnection fees is presently determined by agreements reached during talks among operators.
