According to the latest reports, OPPO Find X7 Ultra just received a major upgrade with the latest software update (PHY110_14.0.1.512/CN01). This update provides support for the next generation of mobile network technology – 5.5G, also known as 5G-Advanced. This event took place shortly after the official launch of the 5G-A (5.5G) network by China Mobile on March 28. As we wrote earlier, the OPPO Find X7 series is the first line of phones to support this technology in all its models.
What is 5.5G? It is an important step towards 6G that offers a significant leap in network capabilities compared to traditional 5G. We are talking about a 10-fold improvement in speed, latency, capacity, and energy efficiency. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect:
- Peak download speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second
- Ultra-low latency in the millisecond range
- Large-scale connectivity to 100 billion IoT devices
- Integration with aerospace technologies
The race to deploy 5.5G is heating up, with all three major Chinese operators vying for dominance. While the OPPO Find X7 series is leading the way, other handset makers are expected to follow suit. These include the vivo X Fold3 series, iQOO 12 series, and Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Interestingly, Honor claims that its entire Magic6 series is already compatible with 5.5G networks, although it lacks official 5G-A branding.
The initial 5.5G network rollout will cover 100 major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan and others. With 5.5G promising unprecedented speed, responsiveness and connectivity, it’s an exciting time for mobile users in China.
