The review site Yelp has introduced a new feature that uses artificial intelligence and customer feedback to evaluate common aspects of nightlife and food-related businesses. The new Review Insights feature is already available in the iOS version of the Yelp app, according to the company’s official blog.
Review Insights aggregates customer reviews and feeds them into a large language model (LLM) that assigns certain aspects – such as atmosphere or service time – a rating on a 100-point scale. It is supposed to be able to draw conclusions about customer sentiment about these parts of the business, “even if the review does not mention one of the topics.” In the coming weeks, Yelp will also add an AI-powered homepage.
Over the past year, Yelp has been introducing new AI features. In January, the business review site added the function of automatic resume creation, and in April, the AI-powered Yelp assistant.
