X gets a faster Grok model and a new

xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, may be embroiled in an escalating lawsuit with OpenAI. But that doesn’t stop it from releasing new products – even on Friday night.

Tonight, xAI announced that it has begun rolling out an updated version of its flagship chatbot model, Grok 2, to all users of X, the social network formerly known as Twitter. (X, which is also owned by Elon Musk, often serves as a testing ground for Grok.) The enhanced Grok is “three times faster,” according to xAI’s blog post, and offers “improved accuracy, instruction execution, and multilingual capabilities.”

Free users can only ask Grok 10 questions every two hours. Subscribers to the premium and premium X plans get higher usage limits.

This evening, xAI also announced the addition of a “Grok button” to X, which, according to the company, is designed to help users find “relevant context, understand real-time events, and dive deeper into trending discussions.”

The startup also announced that it is making several changes to its enterprise API.

According to the company, the xAI API features a couple of new Grok models with better efficiency and multilingual performance. Due to the increased efficiency, the price was reduced from $5 per million input tokens (~750,000 words) or $15 per million output tokens to $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.

In the coming weeks, the API will also include the Aurora image generation model, which is being developed by xAI, xAI said. Aurora, a basically unfiltered image AI, was released on X this month in the Grok chatbot.
