During the year and a half of work to win, Vodafone invested over UAH 5.8 billion (over USD 162 mln) in the network. In the first half of 2023, Vodafone’s investments in the network increased by 75% compared to the same period last year.
The main areas of investment include prompt restoration of communications and major network overhaul after destruction, availability of communications in the face of prolonged regular power outages and the development of digital technologies and services.
During the full-scale war, Vodafone’s communications engineers
- restored the operation of more than 795 base stations;
- repaired 3000 km of fiber-optic cable for mobile and fixed-line networks;
- laid more than 225 km of new fiber-optic lines for mobile and fixed-line communications;
- brought 815 towns and villages back on air.
During this period, Vodafone’s network experienced 485,000 accidents caused by the war.
Vodafone‘s infrastructure has suffered the most damage as the fighting continues in the areas where Vodafone had the most subscribers and equipment. Nevertheless, thanks to the tireless work of the company’s telecommunications staff, the company has managed to reach 90% of the network’s capacity.
