The VATAG heavy unmanned ground vehicle (H-UGV) was officially presented in Ukraine. The platform is capable of transporting more than 2 tons of payload, powered by a hybrid propulsion system that enables long endurance, and enhanced with integrated artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies.
These already provide autonomous navigation and mission management functions. VATAG is designed for a full spectrum of operations — from logistics and engineering support to active participation in combat missions, including the integration and deployment of weapon systems.
Mission and Value
VATAG’s primary purpose is protecting human life by transferring high-risk tasks to robotic
systems. The platform lays the foundation for an H-UGV ecosystem with deep AI integration, designed for autonomy, survivability in contested environments, and seamless
interoperability with existing assets.
Current Capabilities (Available Today):
- Hybrid powertrain: high fuel efficiency with a “silent mode” (electric drive without
generator) for stealth operations. - Energy platform: serves as a mobile power bank for units, supporting logistics and
field operations. - Combat capabilities: integration of weapon systems and universal combat modules
for both stationary and mobile applications. - Communications & EW resilience: multi-channel redundant communications with
automatic channel selection for uninterrupted telemetry and control in electronic
warfare environments. - Autonomous navigation: GPS-denied navigation with automatic route planning,
obstacle avoidance, and convoy operations — implemented today in a supporting role
and under active development.
Architecture and Development Roadmap
VATAG is an ecosystem, not just a single product. It includes the heavy ground robotic
platform, a proprietary 25 mm universal combat module, and AI-driven hardware/software
solutions designed to further expand autonomy — from navigation to elements of battlefield decision-making. The roadmap envisions expanded payload options, broader
interoperability, and scalability across diverse mission scenarios.
Production and Scaling
VATAG is being developed as a dedicated project of an international company with 11 years
of experience in robotics and drone technologies. The developer possesses the industrial
base and expertise required for mass serial production, ensuring readiness for rapid
deployment and localized component manufacturing tailored to customer requirements.
The platform is available for demonstrations and pilot deployments.
