Updated Siri may appear no earlier than next spring

Apple plans to launch an updated Siri, which it initially unveiled at WWDC 2024, in the spring of 2026 with iOS 26.4, Bloomberg reports.

Last year at WWDC, Apple demonstrated how Siri would be able to do things like understand personal context or perform actions based on what’s on the screen. But in March, Apple postponed these features, saying that “it’s going to take us longer than we thought” to implement them.

That statement vaguely said that “we expect” to roll out these features “next year.” However, Vice President of International Marketing Greg Joswiak clarified in an interview this week that Apple was talking about 2026.

The company has not yet decided on an exact date internally, Bloomberg reports. If past trends continue, it’s possible that iOS 26.4 could appear in March: iOS 18.4 was launched on March 31, and iOS 17.4 was released on March 5.

According to Bloomberg, Apple initially planned to release the updated Siri in the fall along with the iPhone 16 line. In fact, the initial Apple Intelligence features – which for Siri included only a new design – were not launched until more than a month after the release of these phones.

This week, the company debuted iOS 26 at WWDC 2025. The biggest feature of the update is the Liquid Glass design language, but it also includes Apple Intelligence-powered features such as live translation on the phone and video calling, as well as the ability to use emojis as prompts to create new Genmoji.
