The largest Ukrainian telecommunication company, Ukrtelecom, advocates the cancellation of fees for mutual connection to the networks of communication operators (interconnect), board chairman of Ukrtelecom Heorhii Dzekon told the Dilova Stolytsia newspaper.
Dzekon also said that if the interconnect fees are retained, their size should be regulated by the state, un.ua says.
In particular, the board chairman of the company calls on the Antimonopoly Committee to declare large operators monopolies on the interconnect market, which would allow the National Communications Regulation Commission to fix tariffs on this market.
In compliance with item 3, article 57 of the Ukrainian Law “On telecommunications,” the NCRC regulates technical, organizational and commercial requirements to interconnection of operators.
At present the fees for interconnection are fixed in compliance with agreements reached between the operators.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in February, the Antimonopoly Committee said it sees no grounds to call communication operators monopolies on the market of interconnection.
