In anticipation of the holidays, Uber is rebranding its local delivery service, formerly known as Uber Connect. Launched in 2020, it now has a name that better explains its purpose: Uber Courier.
The service started with support for sending and receiving goods to and from local addresses. Since then, it has expanded to include pickup of pre-purchased goods from local stores. So, if you have nightmarish traffic, a busy schedule, and can’t afford the extra expense, click the “Courier” button in the Uber app and an Uber courier will be on its way, for example, to pick up what you ordered online and bring it to you (or take it to someone else).
An Uber courier can also pick up and deliver your packages to the post office. It can be worth it to avoid the existential dread of standing in a long line of impatient people under fluorescent lights while waiting for exhausted and underpaid government employees to weigh your package and call you back.
Those traveling with young children have more options for rides with Uber this holiday season. The company is expanding its Uber Car Seat service, which already covers New York, Los Angeles, and Orlando. Starting today, you can also use it in Orlando, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, and San Francisco. If you book an Uber Car Seat in advance, your driver will be equipped with a Nuna Rava convertible car seat for your toddler or child.
