Truecaller has over 450 million monthly active users

Caller ID app Truecaller announced that it crossed the 450 million user mark earlier this week. The company said it has added 50 million users over the past 10 months and 15.5 million users since the beginning of 2025.

India is the company’s largest user base. So it’s no surprise that Truecaller has promoted Chief Operating Officer and Director of India Operations Rishit Junjhunwala to CEO after the company’s co-founders decided to step away from the day-to-day operations last year.

Junjhunwala noted that while India remains the most important market for Truecaller, the company is also seeing growth in other regions.

“We are proud to now serve over 450 million users worldwide. As before, we continue to see steady growth in our largest market, India, but the fastest relative growth is in markets outside of India. So far in 2025, we are seeing strong growth trends in Latin America, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Malaysia and the US, to name a few,” he said in a blog post.

Truecaller’s growth and position in India may be called into question as the country’s telecom department is pushing mobile operators to introduce their own caller ID system that can compete with the Swedish company’s product.

The company reported that during Q4 2024, it maintained an active subscriber base of almost 430 million users. For the quarter ending in December, the company showed positive results: net sales grew by 23%, and profit after tax increased by 29% compared to the same period last year. At the time of writing, the company’s shares are up more than 33% since the beginning of the year.

Earlier this year, the company also integrated its caller ID product to work better with iOS. Until now, due to limitations at the operating system level from Apple, the real-time caller identification feature was not on par with its Android equivalent.

Truecaller has also focused on creating value beyond caller ID by introducing products such as call recording and transcription, as well as an AI-powered assistant for call verification. The company is trying to improve its customer experience for SMS and chat.
