Meta has appointed Connor Hayes, Meta’s vice president of generative AI products, as head of Threads, Axios reports.
Until now, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri was responsible for Threads. But the platform has evolved into more than a spin-off of Instagram, requiring additional leadership.
Although Threads was only launched in 2023, its mobile daily active users (DAUs) are rapidly approaching X’s numbers, according to market intelligence provider Similarweb. Threads currently averages about 115 million DAUs on mobile devices, while X’s DAUs reach about 132 million.
