The Ministry of Digital Transformation and Ukrzaliznytsia are working together to ensure that Ukrainian trains have high-quality Internet and communication. The need for access to the network is mentioned by 99% of passengers. Starlinks will help solve this problem.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and Ukrzaliznytsia are already testing the use of terminals on the Intercity+ train. It runs all over Ukraine to make the test as complete as possible. Several dozen more Starlink terminals are used on trains that operate diplomatic flights.
The first test results showed that Starliners work best in combination with LTE networks. This model will provide trains with high-quality communication for 97% of the journey.
Together with Ukrzaliznytsia, the Ministry of Digital Transformation plans to equip 16 Intercity+ trains with Starlink terminals:
