By the end of the year, iQOO plans to introduce its high-performance iQOO Neo 9 series in China, which will include two smartphones: Neo 9 and Neo 9 Pro. Although the exact launch date has not been officially confirmed by the brand, a leak recently appeared containing this information.
Weibo user @熊猫很禿然 shared a leaked poster for the iQOO Neo 9 series that indicates a planned launch on December 27. The leak suggests that this is a delayed release, as the smartphone was originally expected to debut earlier. The expected global availability of these devices is likely to be in early 2024.
iQOO Neo 9 series: what we know so far
Images of the Neo 9 series from iQOO have emerged, showing a two-tone design with white and red colors. The most interesting aspect is the processors: the vanilla model is powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, while leaks suggest that the Pro model will be equipped with the recently launched Dimensity 9300 processor.
As we know, the Dimensity 9300 has closed the performance gap at the top end, as it is currently neck and neck with the advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in the AnTuTu benchmark rankings.
According to a recent leak, the Neo 9 Pro is expected to feature a 6.78-inch flat OLED panel with a 1.5K (2800 x 1260 pixels) resolution. The display will have a 144Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM brightness control, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Based on the Dimensity 9300 processor, the Neo 9 Pro is expected to be equipped with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
It will have a 5000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging support, and the software will be OriginOS 4 based on Android 14. In terms of cameras, leaks suggest that the Neo 9 Pro will feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX920 primary camera with OIS and a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera notch is rumored to house a 16-megapixel camera.
