Socket (type F) Jeweller is a compact smart socket from the Ukrainian manufacturer Ajax Systems, which features energy consumption metering, remote control and operation according to predefined scenarios, compliance with energy safety standards, and much more. In this review, I’ll tell you how interesting this all is and whether the product is worth your attention.
Package
But let’s talk about everything in turn. So, the box. The user will receive the product in a compact cardboard package made of medium-strength material, where it is also placed on a cardboard seal. This format cannot be called new, but at the same time, my particular case proved that the model inside is reliably protected during transportation from the manufacturer through the store and further to the end customer.
Of course, a box from a product is the kind of thing that goes into recycling immediately (or almost immediately) after unpacking. But even if the packaging from Socket (type F) Jeweller suffers a similar fate, I still advise you to focus your attention on the data that the manufacturer has put on the walls, because together they are an interesting “business card” about the product’s capabilities and features. However, we will talk about this in the next section. Don’t switch the channel!
Information from the box walls
Well, OK, let’s move on. The most interesting thing on the front side wall is an illustration of a socket. In addition, the Jeweller protocol is indicated.
The data on the right and left side walls are duplicated. Here we are talking only about the name of the product.
There is a lot more information behind it: the product name, the type of solution to which the model belongs, a list of key features, labeling data, information about the country where the product was manufactured, and other interesting “things”, including, of course, the address of the official Ajax website.
The scope of delivery
Having familiarized ourselves with the box itself and the information on its walls, let’s now move on to examine the delivery set. Let’s see what’s inside:

Used materials
The Socket (type F) Jeweller case is a combination of stylish glossy plastic in our case in white color (a black version is also available). In addition to white, there is also a bit of gray on board. An interesting functional and decorative element of the product is the transparent plastic at the consumer connection point.
There is a multi-colored LED inside. I’ll tell you how it changes colors a little later, but for now it’s worth knowing that this diode itself complements the elegant design of the socket very coolly. This is something you will definitely like.
Surprisingly compact dimensions of the product allow you to use it conveniently in double or triple sockets without blocking the “neighbor” placed next to it, and this is also a plus.
Among other materials, it is worth noting a certain amount of metal. It’s easy to see how it’s placed on the outside in the illustrations. I didn’t try to look inside and I don’t advise you to, because the body of the product is not disassembled for the user, and besides, you will also lose the 2-year full warranty, which also has weight.
Impressions about the build quality
In terms of build quality, the socket is very good. Do you have any doubts? In vain, because Ajax has achieved very significant success here. What are the results? On the one hand, the product under review in this review is an example of true sophistication in industrial design. On the other hand, all this gave no reason to save on the “quality” item. In short, the end result is not a parity between build quality and design, but the result of a truly uncompromising approach in each area.
Design
My personal opinion: “Ajax knows how to make both functional and beautiful.” I won’t go far to find examples – we once published a review of the amazingly stylish Ajax Hub 2 Plus, then Ajax FireProtect Plus, and some others.
These are all examples of not only well-functioning functionality, but also really stylish design. These products do not need to be hidden from direct contact with your office or apartment/house guests, because we are looking at a noteworthy addition to the appearance. And Socket (type F) Jeweller is no exception in this regard.
Functioning of the backlight
I have already mentioned the ability of diodes to glow in different colors. Now a few details.
Thus, if the backlight is blue, the socket is off. Green – the device is on, but there is no load, i.e. no consumer is connected. Next, yellow indicates a load within 550 W, orange – 1250 W, red – 2000 W, dark pink – 2500 W, and purple – 3000 W.
If one of the several protections is triggered, the LED lights up and goes out smoothly, and if it is a hardware malfunction, the device will signal with rapid flashes of red. At first glance, it seems a bit difficult to memorize, but it only seems so – I personally memorized it after a few days of working with the product. It is an intuitive “thing”.
Connection
Socket (type F) Jeweller is compatible with all Ajax hubs, so even if you have an earlier model, there will be no problems with connection.
To control it from a smartphone, of course, you will also need the Ajax Security System app – available for the two most popular mobile operating systems. However, we assume that if you have paid attention to Socket (type F) Jeweller, you have the app and the corresponding hub by default.
So, here’s how to install it. In the app menu, select the “Add Device” item, set its location, scan the ID, and that’s it. A few seconds later, the socket is added to your home (as in my case) or other network.
Features
All the features of the Socket (type F) Jeweller can be found in the device menu of the aforementioned application.
There are two submenus – the main one and another one, which the user accesses through a small cogwheel at the very top right.
The “features” of the first one are: determination of Jeweller signal strength, current, voltage, activation of current and voltage protection, current power consumption, etc.
In the submenu marked with a wheel, you can rename the socket, set up notifications, activate or deactivate current or voltage protection, select an operating mode, turn off the LED or lower/increase the brightness, set up product scenarios, and much more.
Summarizing this point, I will say that I personally really liked the way the manufacturer organized the menu – an intuitive and simple format, even if you are driving this car for the first time.
Bottom line
As a result, we have an interesting device for users who create a security ecosystem based on Ajax solutions. The surprisingly simple installation and configuration, wide functionality, advanced protection, monitoring function, and noteworthy design are exactly what competitors will envy and what you will definitely like.
Socket (type F) Jeweller costs 1729 UAH (∼47 USD).
