Owners of Samsung devices will start receiving notifications about the installation of One UI 7 on April 7. The company will roll out the new interface gradually, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 devices, before making it available on its other smartphones and tablets. Samsung says the new interface was created specifically for artificial intelligence and will help users interact with their devices more naturally. The new Now Bar will provide users with real-time updates on the lock screen, such as what song is playing in their headphones, without having to unlock their phones or tablets.
One UI 7 comes with a number of Galaxy artificial intelligence features, including AI Select, which allows users to interact with parts of the screen. This will allow them to copy text by drawing a circle on an element on the screen, or easily create GIFs from the video they are watching. Writing Assist can automatically summarize or format text selected by the user, and Drawing Assist creates illustrations based on text prompts, sketches or images. Audio Eraser makes it easier to extract sounds and remove unwanted noise from videos.
In addition to artificial intelligence features, One UI 7 has a number of security features, including an anti-theft tool called Identity Check. It will force the user to confirm their identity if their PIN is compromised. In the settings, users will also be able to lock the USB connection to prevent access via the USB port when the device is locked, except for battery charging.
