Samsung may implement Perplexity in its phones

Samsung is closing in on a deal to invest in artificial intelligence search startup Perplexity, which would see the Korean tech giant also integrate the company’s technology into its devices, Bloomberg reports, citing anonymous sources.

As one of the largest investors in the new round of fundraising for the AI company, Samsung is discussing the possibility of pre-installing Perplexity’s app and assistant on its phones and integrating its search functions into the default browser, the report said.

The companies are also discussing the possibility of using Perplexity’s artificial intelligence technology in some of the functions of Samsung’s own Bixby assistant, Bloomberg reports, adding that the partnership could be announced as early as this year.

Perplexity is in the process of raising $500 million at a $14 billion valuation, Bloomberg reported in May.

Samsung is not the only one looking to integrate Perplexity features. Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Apple is considering adding Perplexity as a search engine in Safari, and in April, Motorola announced a partnership with Perplexity to develop artificial intelligence functions.
