Samsung may finally succeed with the Galaxy S26 Edge

Samsung‘s ultra-slim Galaxy S25 Edge turned heads with its incredibly thin 5.8mm profile, but it also made a major compromise on battery size. You bought this phone for its looks, not for its practicality or endurance. But its successor could be much more practical. Recent rumors hint that the Galaxy S26 Edge will have both design and battery improvements.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge: bigger battery, but somehow thinner?

The Galaxy S25 Edge wasn’t the big success the South Korean tech giant was hoping for, due to its high price and insufficient battery life. But the brand hasn’t given up yet, and a new rumor from Ice Universe claims that the upcoming S26 Edge will receive notable updates. As expected, the first thing Samsung might fix is the battery capacity, which will increase battery life.

However, these improvements also extend to the design. The Galaxy S25 Edge was already quite thin and light, but the Galaxy S26 Edge will reportedly be even thinner (somehow). As a reminder, the S25 Edge had an ultra-thin 5.8mm body that weighed just 163 grams. So, despite having a taller display than the base Galaxy S25, it weighed almost the same. Samsung packed the flagship chipset and the S25 Ultra camera into this thin and light body.

Unfortunately, the 3900 mAh battery turned out to be its Achilles’ heel. To the disadvantages, we can add the fact that Samsung released this flagship at a starting price of USD 1,099. This made it impractical for power users and inaccessible to a wide audience. Although these improvements could have easily made it an attractive phone, even with its exorbitant price.
