Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will get a thin and efficient display

Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, has already been making the rounds online, and a fresh leak hints that it could debut with some notable display upgrades. This new panel could help Samsung make its next-generation flagship look sleeker as well as improve its performance. Here’s what you need to know.

Samsung is preparing a display update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra

The news came from a well-known leaker of information about Samsung Ice Universe. Samsung is apparently planning to use a CoE OLED panel in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. CoE stands for Color Filter of Encapsulation, which is supposed to bring various upgrades. This new display technology uses a color filter instead of a typical polarizer and replaces the standard PDL (pixel definition layer) with a black PDL.

How does this help? The different structure of the display panel is thinner, so it allows for better light transmission. In addition, the screen will be more energy efficient and also have a higher peak brightness. Thus, the display not only becomes thinner, but also provides longer battery life. Ice Universe also claims that Samsung will apply its latest anti-reflective coating to the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display.

All of this could allow the South Korean tech giant to make its next top-of-the-line smartphone thinner and sleeker. Even if it refuses to reduce the thickness of the device, the company can use a little more space for a larger battery. However, rumors still hint at a 5,000 mAh battery. So Samsung might make the S26 Ultra a bit thinner, just like the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE. By the way, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to be equipped with a nearly 1-inch 200-megapixel Sony camera sensor.
