Samsung is rolling out its Android 16-based One UI 8 update to more affordable phones. After debuting with the 7th generation foldable phones – Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE. Last month, the company’s mid-range Galaxy A56 was spotted on the company’s test servers with a build based on Android 16.
The software is now being tested on budget models, including the Galaxy F34 and M36, indicating that One UI 8 based on Android 16 is on its way to a wider audience. In addition to appearing on test servers, the latter has also been spotted on Geekbench running the latest version of Android.
Internal test builds indicate early preparations for a stable rollout. Unlike Samsung’s flagship S25 lineup, which is participating in a public beta testing program, budget devices are expected to skip the beta and go straight to the final version – a typical move for Samsung.
One UI 8 introduces smarter features, such as improved live translation and the Circle to Search feature, combined with a sleeker interface and smoother animations. Although Samsung has not confirmed an official timeline, all indications are that the release could take place in August. And since the company promises up to seven years of software support for many of its phones, even mid-range and budget models will benefit from long-term updates. For example, the M36 5G will receive up to six major Android updates
If everything goes smoothly, Galaxy F34 and M36 users will soon be able to enjoy the latest Android features without spending extra money.
