The Comstar Unified TeleSystems Company based in Russia has announced it has completed works on the transfer of the Internet traffic between Moscow and Kyiv to the fiber optic network of the MTS mobile communications operator.
Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by MTS.
The works on the transfer of the Internet traffic between Moscow and Kyiv were performed in February through July.
The capacity of the IP-network is 20 Gbit/second.
“The project is being implemented within the integration of the Comstar-OTS and MTS. At present MTS and Comstar-OTS perform works on the transfer of the Internet traffic of Comstar-OTS to the network of MTS toward northwest,” said Viktor Belov, director for development of service platforms of Comstar-OTS, according to the statement.
At present, the international Internet-network of Comstar is linked with the Internet in several large node points in London, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Frankfort, Paris, Los Angeles, and New York.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Ukrainian Mobile Communication operator, which renders its services under the brand of MTS, and Comstar Unified TeleSystems, Russia, in March 2010 signed a contract on mutual connection of networks.
Comstar Unified TeleSystems is a Russian operator of fixed communications.
