Due to the full-scale war, hundreds of settlements have suffered damage to their telecom infrastructure. Where the damage is minor, operators are restoring networks on their own. However, there are settlements where everything has been destroyed: there is no electricity or power poles.

That is why Ukraine is now actively looking for donors who are ready to take over the restoration of the destroyed networks. And there are already results: the Finnish company Nokia was the first to respond.

In the village of Posad Pokrovske in Kherson region, a fully non-volatile infrastructure will be restored to ensure that citizens can still have access to the Internet even in the event of power outages.

Nokia has stated that it is ready to supply the most modern equipment in two settlements. It will be a fixed Internet access, and possibly also a mobile one. This was stated by Yuriy Matsyk, Director of the Fixed Internet Development Department of the Ministry of Digital Transformation:

“Today we are talking to various experts on this issue. Everyone agrees that it is imperative to remove the cable from the poles and put it underground.”

That is, in those settlements that fall into the restoration zones, the creation of a cable sewer will be considered, where optics should be laid.
